Reyi Hostel is a treasure trove of good practices of sustainable tourism that can already be noticed from a distance. It has large windows, through which it receives solar energy and therefore helps reduce CO2 emissions. Rooms are painted in bright, warm colours, such as white and light green, which provide a feeling of familiarity and keep the room bright for longer periods of time. You can sleep in a room with climbing walls instead of the usual ones, or you can choose rooms with wonderful wall paintings. There’s also a lot of wood and the rooms have special lights. The table lamp is encased in a wine bottle, creating a pleasant atmosphere. The light above the bed is made of a recycled tap, which doesn’t emit any excessive light. What is really interesting are the hostel’s events; at one of these events, people make soap out of used kitchen oil. There’s also a book exchange in the hostel’s delightful library and, if you want, you can even organise a conference.

Besides being sustainable, the hostel is also very comfortable and spacious. It has many areas where travellers can socialise, such as the several common rooms with comfy green armchairs, and play a match of table tennis. If you want to go out and explore the surroundings, the hostel will provide you with all the relevant information. Plus, you can also rent a bike or go hiking on the trails covering either flat or mountainous terrain.
