Town hall has a new function

Every town is marked with its history, that has been reflected in every stone of a certain cultural building and resounds in her premises time after time. The gently medieval town Brežice is most recognisable for its famous pink painted water supply tower, which is already  noticeable from distance, but it is only a small part of architectural legacy, that determines this town. The Town hall  or otherwise called Rotovž built in the year 1796 is set in the middle of an urban core and  is the building of urban power and urban determination. Its special feature is a round balcony with a simple web portal and a bellied baroque fence. On the top of the building you can admire  a painted sundial and four baroque vases with agaves which are attached on the roof and at the peak stands an ornamental tip. Within the 19th century this late baroque house offered a sanctuary  to different mercenaries with families, clerks and their slaves, serving girls, cooks and other personnel, who took care of this town and contributed to creation of its history. The Town hall also offered rooms  to the music school for 50 years, but after this period of time they moved to more contemporary places.

Also a holidays’ fair is planned before Christmas, that will take place within the same time, the 21th of December, as the already mentioned wine shop opening in the Town hall.
