Five Things to do In Copenhagen during December

Experience Christmas Markets
Copenhagen streets come to life when Christmas markets open.  They are in every corner of the city selling Christmas decorations, gifts, hats, scarfs, gloves, and all types of delicious winter treats like Danish pancakes (æbleskiver), mulled wine (gløgg), Danish cookies, roasted almonds, and other specialties.

Visit Tivoli
Tivoli Amusement Park is set to entertain this year with lights, markets, shows, and performances.  Attractions include the fairy tale garden, the crazy cabaret, parades, firework festivals, and the opportunity to see the park transformed into a winter wonderland.

See the Lights
It gets dark during the winter months, so to counteract the grey days, lights decorate the streets and create a wonderful setting when you shop, take trips, or spend time with family and friends.

Shop
Shopping in Copenhagen during the winter season is a unique experience as there are many stores for your shopping pleasure. Illum and Magasin are two of the largest department stores, which sell a host of local and foreign name brand products. The pedestrian street, Strøget, has many small boutiques and chains with bargain prices for the holidays.

Go on a ZOO Tour
Copenhagen ZOO is open all year round, so visit the more than 3,000 species as they prepare for winter. See the snowy owls in their new home between the polar bears’ retreat and the children’s playground. The four new wombats are new additions, and along with the Tasmanian Devils, provide an exciting occasion for the young and the youthful. Remember to bring your camera and capture your unforgettable zoo adventure.

Choose your place of accommodation when you visit Copenhagen, and experience the unique atmosphere this time of year.
