YHA Cycling Facilities in England & Wales

At YHA we're investing a grand total of £269,500 in additional cycling facilities, making sure our hostels have everything you need for you and your bike. Many of our staff and members are keen cyclists and our hostels are nestled in some of the best cycling and mountain biking locations in the world. In short, we're dedicated to providing the best cycling experience ever!

We're investing £108,000 in cycling, with a further £161,500 coming from generous grants from local and National Park authorities. And this is only the beginning of our big focus on cyclists; we'll be announcing our second phase later on this year. If you're planning on an activity break out on your bike this year, the first 25 hostels to benefit from our investment are: YHA Berwick, YHA Helmsley, YHA Malham, YHA Hawkshead, YHA Keswick, YHA Castleton, YHA Hartington Hall, YHA Hathersage, YHA Ilam Hall, YHA National Forest, YHA Edale, YHA Ravenstor, YHA Eyam, YHA Youlgreave, YHA Conwy, YHA Eastbourne, YHA Holmbury St Marys, YHA London Lee Valley, YHA South Downs, YHA Truleigh Hill, YHA Bristol, YHA Dartmoor, YHA Eden Project, YHA Swanage and YHA Wye Valley.

We've been replacing and getting our existing bike facilities up to a higher standard, such as improving the security around our lockers and bike sheds for your peace of mind. With bike spares, bike hire, bike washes and bike parking available at some of our best cycling locations - we're more than just a place to sleep. And with helpful little extras like drying rooms or preparing you a hearty packed lunch for your adventures, we're tuned in to the needs of cyclists. If what you need is not on-site, we can put you in touch with trusted partners and recommend you the best places for bike hire or repair nearby.
It goes without saying that our hostels are on some of the greatest cycling routes in England and Wales, some of them right from the doorstep! The staff in our hostels are happy to show you the best routes, with options for
road cycling,
mountain biking and
gentle family routes. Britain has a fantastic network of cycle paths running through town, country, coastline and forest, and there are few better ways to enjoy a beautiful view than from the saddle of a bike.
