History of Asia's most popular archipelago

The beginnings of the colonisation of the Philippines date back to the 16th century with the Spanish explorer Miguel López de Legazpi, who travelled to the island in order to conquer new territory and enslave people as an unpaid labour force for the needs of work in the Spanish Empire in what is now Mexico. The entire archipelago is named after King Philip II of Spain. Spain, which ruled the Spanish monarchy during the Spanish colonisation. The Spanish invasion of the archipelago was aimed at uniting and integrating all parts of the archipelago into a single administrative unit, thereby establishing a state system in the Philippines. Catholic missionaries in the framework of the arrangement of the Spanish colonial government, which moved the inhabitants of small settlements to the centre of newly built cities, spread the faith and Christians of the tribal communities there, following the example of Spain. From the 16th to the 19th century, the area of the Philippines was administered by the Ciudad de México, a colonised area of the Spanish Monarchy, and later by Madrid.

In 1898, a military conflict broke out between the Spanish and Americans in the Spanish-American War, which lasted for four months. The military conflict also reaches the colonised area of the Philippines, where the US government liberates the area under the leadership of the Spanish Monarchy and assumes the leadership of the Republic of the Philippines. During World War II, Japan invaded the Philippines, occupying Philippine territory for three years until it was defeated in 1945 by the United States and the Philippines. In the same year, the Philippines became a founding member of the United States. A year later, under the presidency of the Philippine politician Manuel Roxas y Acuña, the Treaty of Manila officially recognised the Philippines as an independent nation.
