Technical Museum of Slovenia

Technical Museum of Slovenia in Bistra near Vrhnika opened its doors for the 2010 season on Tuesday, 2nd March 2010.

Behind the gates of a former Carthusian monastery you can find Slovenia’s largest museum. It is located in the most beautiful natural surroundings on the outskirts of Ljubljana. Several collections can be seen in the museum: from forestry, fishing and agricultural department to textile, printing, traffic and electrical engineering. Visitors can also attend several workshops and demonstrations, through which they can truly experience the technical spirit of the past.

In March we welcome you to attend the basket making workshop (Saturday, 6th March 2010, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.), bread baking in traditional earthen oven (Saturday, 13th March 2010, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.), workshop of making Easter rabbit (Saturday, 20th March 2010, at 9 a.m.) and clay modeling (Saturday, 27th March 2010, at 9 a.m.). You are also invited to attend our demonstrations every Sunday. In March we will be featuring the following demonstrations: demonstration of bread baking in a traditional earthen oven (Sunday, 7th March 2010, between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m.), demonstration of log sawing by the Venetian sawmill (Sunday, 14th March 2010, at 3 p.m.), demonstration of horseshoe-forging (Sunday, 21st March 2010, at 3 p.m.), demonstration of toothpick making (Sunday, 28th March 2010, at 3 p.m.) and demonstrations of Nikola Tesla’s Experiments (Every Sunday at 4 p.m.).

Sunday and holidays: 10.00-18.00
