Spring is just around the corner and with it the yearning to travel, either individually or in groups, where you always need to think of appropriate accommodation and activities – such as team-buildings, seminars, conferences, sport preparations…
As usual
Hostelling International Slovenia prepared a selection of six great hostels, which can best suit the needs of even most demanding groups, all at friendly hosteling prices. First off let’s present
hostel Punkl in Ravneh na Koroškem, which is completely made of wood and is a part of the youth centre Ravne na Koroškem in the very heart of Koroška. It has all a group would need, especially in the field of sports as it is right next to sport objects. For those who want to get away from the hectic city life, we offer
hostel Videc, at an elevation of over 1000m above sea level, offering everything from sport courts to a swimming pool and an excellent cuisine.

If you want to have a team building event, the
hostel pod Voglom is the right choice for your group. They have their own adrenalin park and offer a whole range of outdoor activities, from rafting to cycling. It also offers various options for food – from breakfast, lunch and dinner. Adrenalin lovers will also (especially water sport lovers) like the welcoming
hostel Bovec, on the very north-west of Slovenia, where their young team will make sure you have an unforgettable group memory to share.
For smaller but demanding groups we suggest
hostel Trbovlje, waiting for you in the youth centre, offering a range of well-equipped halls for the highest levels of meetings. But let’s not skip the oldest Slovenian town and their
hostel Poetovio in Ptuju, part of the high school dormitory, offering several rooms and a kitchen (preparing high classed meal at low impact prices).
1. Youth Hostel Poetovio
Hostel Poetovio is in the highschool dormitory in the vicinity of the centre of the oldest town in Slovenia – Ptuj. It has its own bus parking. It’s only about a kilometre away from the bus and rail station. There are 60 beds altogether in two and three bedded rooms with common toilets (2 toilets, 2 showers and 4 washbasins per 4-6 rooms). They all have free internet access. There is also a kitchenette, living room, trim cabinet, table tennis and table soccer. The kitchen has a large dining room which offers breakfast, lunch and dinner every working day – for groups also during weekends.
2. Youth Hostel Trbovlje
Hostel Trbovlje has 24 beds, which are sorted in dormitory, apartments and double rooms. All rooms have a private bathroom and free Wi-Fi. On arrival guests receive free linen and towel. In hostel is also a fully equipped kitchen for guests. In Hostel Trbovlje is Cafeteria and a big multipurpose hall with stage for concerts, talk shows, workshops and exhibitions. Bicycle rental is also available. On the first flour is a Tourist information center, where guests and other visitors can get a tip what to do and where to go in our region.
3. Youth Hostel Bovec
Hostel Bovec in the center of Bovec. Bovec is a small town in Slovenia, located between high mountains and famous Soča river. It is a great destination for people looking for adrenaline release, river and land sports, tasty traditional food, historical and natural monuments. Our staff will help you to remember your journey in Bovec. The hostel is located in a big renovated house just in front of Kaninska vas and can host a maximum number of 50 guests. You can choose to stay in different rooms, we have from double room to twelve beded dormitory with sharing bathrooms.
4. Youth Hostel pod Voglom
Hostel Pod Voglom is situated at one of the most beautiful locations in Slovenia – in the middle of the Triglav National Park by the lake Bohinj. As such it is ideal for all the outdoor fans, who like to spend active holidays in contact with nature. It offers 3 kinds of accommodation (rooms with private bathroom, shared bathroom or dormitory rooms). Hostel has 129 beds. In the yard of the hostel is located Pac sports outdoor centre and the high ropes course. You can also rent boats, canoes and kayaks or mountain bikes. An interesting challenge for those who want more adrenaline is participating in rafting or canyoning or experiencing a paragliding trip with a tandem above the Bohinj lake.
5. Youth Hostlov Videc
A charming
hostel Videc is located at the elevation of 1050m above sea level in a hotel apartment village Bolfenk on Pohorje above Maribor. It offers 28 lively decorated rooms with makes up 114 beds all together (58 basic and additional 56 beds). All rooms feature satellite TV, telephone, free WiFi, bathroom with a shower, toilet and a balcony with a view of the beautiful Pohorje. The hostel has a reception with a café (open if necessary), and a small lobby along with a storage for skies and a large restaurant which can accommodate seminars and festivities. Right next to it is the wellness centre Bolfenk, a shop, cable cart leading down to the city, ATM, football field, ski slopes and many hiking and biking paths.
6. Youth Hostel Punkl
Hostel Punkl was designed as a self-sufficient low energy architectural building in line with natural and bioclimatic natural surroundings. It’s entirely made of massive wood and all the materials are natural – if only possible. The hostel offers beds for up to 48 people and has common rooms that allow the organization of activities for guests and outside visitors alike. Beds are arranged in 8 rooms with their own bathrooms. All rooms are designed flexibly, so you can stay in a two-, four-, or eight-bedded room.
