Unique European combination of natural, cultural and environmental education.
The Experience of Nature Park Panarbora is located approximately 50 kilometres east of Cologne and enables you to experience Germany from an interesting perspective. The Europe-wide unique combination of natural, cultural and environmental education will open on 01/09/2015.
Panarbora is a combination of
youth hostel, canopy pathway and educational centre that focuses on the subjects of ecology and economy. Currently the 40 metres high observation tower with its canopy and a 1635-metre long pathway, as well as the five tree houses, are under construction. In good weather you can even see the Cologne Cathedral from the tower, one of the most visited tourist attractions in Germany. There are 170 beds available for an overnight stay for the guests of Panarbora. Beside the tree houses and double-bed rooms, you can stay overnight in six African-style cottages, South American stilts-houses and Asian yurts.
Panarbora extends on an area as big as eleven football pitches. In the three Global Villages our guests will get to know foreign cultures and experience the lifestyle of the indigenous people of South America, Africa and Asia. The hedge maze is offering an experience for the senses. On the subject of environmental education an academy of nature is offering its knowledge: rangers are offering guidance to let our guests speak up about knowledge of flora and fauna. The up to 23 metres high canopy pathway and the observation platform on the 34 metre high tower are offering a terrific view on the park of nature “Bergisches Land“; and an exhibition with several stations on the canopy pathway is informing about the flora and fauna in this German region.
On this subject you can actually find an App, with which our guests can find out a lot about the forest and explore exciting details all about the flora and fauna. The exhibition is structured into 6 parts with interactive didactic and experience-stations. People are learning in a fun and exciting way. The youngest visitors can explore the forest while playing, for example in the form of memory games, puzzles, turntables or forest board games. Whoever prefers digital access can activate a free app before entering the canopy pathway, with this you will find exciting sounds, voices of animals or comics, talking in a slang on your path of adventure and learning. On big screens and blackboards photos, texts and films are presented. With this exhibition we collected information from very different departments, and edited them for a broad public in an experiential and educational way.
