Fulfilling our long-time dream or how it started
»Are you serious? Do you really want to do this? You are crazy.” These were the sentences my husband Jure said, when I confronted him with my plan – to travel around the world for 1 year. We had this conversation in summer of 2014. Look at us today – we are on the way, currently in South America enjoying the first days of our big adventure.
Planning a 1-year trip
The preparation began in early summer 2015 – the first and most important thing was to clear everything at work. After that we had to cancel our apartment and move out, organize some stuff at work, at the bank, at doctors. We luckily didn’t have to get vaccinated because we’ve been vaccinated before. And of course a farewell party didn’t miss.
Start in South America
As mentioned before, we are already in South America. We started in lovely Salvador, from there we travelled to crazy Rio de Janeiro, where we had some issues with the weather. But that didn’t stop us from having an amazing time in this great city.
From Rio we took the bus to Foz do Iguazu, which should take around 24 hours. But on that sunny Monday some Brazilieros decided to protest and closed the highway. The first information from the driver was – today stop, Foz tomorrow. Great. We were in the middle of nowhere: one street, 2 restaurants and a bus station. Because we left Rio 24 hours ago, we decided a beer and some proper food will light up the mood. But as we ordered the driver shouted Vamos! We threw the food into our stomachs and rushed to the bus. We made a huge detour but we arrived in Foz at 10PM (we should at 11AM).
